Flight

Composers and poets have long been captivated by the notion of taking to the sky; whether it be through our own technological endeavours or those of the animal kingdom. Our Winter concert for 2024 is an uplifting celebration of works that encourage us to look upwards: featuring Eric Whitacre’s choral tour de force Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine, Dan Walker’s setting of the glorious John Gillespie Magee poem High Flight, English composer Kerry Andrew’s Rhymes and Charms for Fly-Away Things, as well as works by Esenvalds and Australian composers Joe Twist and Matthew Orlovich.

With Sally Whitwell on piano.
